Custom MQL5 Development · Code Fixes · MT4 to MT5 Migration

Your Strategy,
Turned Into
Code.

I'm Donaldson — a trader who codes, not a coder who trades. I turn trading rules into custom MQL5 Expert Advisors for MetaTrader 5, built by someone who actually risks real capital on their own automation.

No price list on this page. Tell me about your strategy, your broken code, or your MT4 robot on WhatsApp or Telegram, and I'll give you a clear, honest quote.

Who's behind this

I spent years on the other side of this exact transaction. I hired coders who took the money and handed back broken code I would never have trusted with real capital. With a solid background in IT, learning MQL5 was the obvious next step — so I built my own tools myself, because I needed something I could actually rely on. Automation isn't magic. It's discipline enforced by code. And that's exactly what I build for you.

Why that matters to you

I'm not a general software agency that occasionally takes on a trading project. I trade, I code, and I use my own Expert Advisors with real money. When you send me your rules, you're not explaining trading concepts to someone who's never placed a trade — you're talking to someone who already understands why your logic matters.

Three ways I can help

Whether you're starting from a blank page, rescuing a project gone wrong, or moving off an outdated platform, there's a clear starting point below. No prices listed — message me and I'll quote your specific case honestly.

Every quote depends on the complexity of your logic and how much work is actually involved — a simple crossover system and a multi-timeframe dashboard are not the same job. Message me with the details and I'll give you a straight answer, including a realistic timeline.

Real trading problems, and how I've fixed them

Every strategy is different, but the technical roadblocks are usually familiar. Here's the kind of work that actually lands in my inbox.

  • The Strategy Automator

A manual trader kept missing critical entries while asleep. I took his exact breakout rules and built a custom MT5 robot that now runs flawlessly day and night.

  • The Code Rescue

A client's robot kept freezing during high volatility. I audited the source code, found severe memory loops, and rewrote the execution logic for stability.

  • Platform Conversion

A trader had a profitable system on a platform his broker stopped supporting. I translated the legacy script into modern MQL5 so the strategy survived the change.

  • The Account Protector

A trader kept losing profits to emotional revenge trading after a bad loss. I built a background utility that monitors daily drawdown and blocks new orders once the limit is hit.

  • The Alert Automator

A client spent hours watching charts for three indicators to line up. I combined the entire visual strategy into a lightweight EA that executes the exact setup instantly.

  • The Prop Firm Guardian

A skilled trader kept failing funded account challenges on drawdown rules. I built an equity management system that closes positions before the violation threshold is crossed.

  • The Market Scanner

A swing trader was exhausted from manually checking twenty pairs every few hours. I built a dashboard that scans the market and alerts him only when his exact setup appears.

  • The Grid Optimiser

A profitable recovery strategy was too aggressive in strong trends. I rewrote the core logic with dynamic spacing based on volatility, turning it into a stable system.

  • The Account Synchroniser

An experienced trader needed to mirror manual trades across several family accounts. I built a high-speed trade copier that replicates entries and exits with zero delay.

How the process actually works

New build, code rescue, or MT4 to MT5 conversion — tell me which one fits.

  • 2
    Share your strategy

Your exact entry and exit rules, indicators, and risk logic, in text, in English.

  • 3
    Technical feasibility review

I check your logic can be translated into MQL5 with full precision before we agree anything.

  • 4
    Professional programming

Once your rules are locked in, I write clean, original code from scratch.

  • 5
    Demo account testing

Your EA runs on a simulated market so every execution rule and alert is verified against real-time data.

  • 6
    Delivery, with a 7-day window

You get the finished files plus 7 days and up to 3 corrections to catch any genuine bugs.

My zero-risk guarantee

I only want to be paid if I can actually deliver something that works. If we hit a genuine technical wall and your strategy simply can't be coded as described, I'll refund you in full. If you change your mind before I start writing any code, just tell me and your payment goes straight back. No hard feelings, no small print designed to trap you.

Frequently asked questions

1. What is an Expert Advisor, and how is it different from an indicator?

An Expert Advisor (EA) is a piece of MQL5 code that trades automatically on your behalf — opening, managing, and closing positions based on rules you define. An indicator, by contrast, only displays information on the chart; it doesn't place trades itself, though an EA can be built to react to one.

2. Can you turn my trading strategy into an Expert Advisor?

Yes, that's the core of what I do. Send me your exact entry, exit, and risk management rules in writing, and I'll review whether they can be coded precisely as you describe, then build it from scratch.

3. How much does it cost to build a custom Expert Advisor?

There's no fixed price list, because a simple moving average crossover and a multi-timeframe dashboard with dozens of conditions are entirely different jobs. Tell me your rules and I'll give you a clear, honest quote before any work begins.

4. How long does it usually take to programme a custom EA?

It depends entirely on complexity. A simple crossover system might take a few days; a complex multi-timeframe dashboard could take a few weeks. We agree on a firm deadline before you pay anything.

5. Do I need to know how to code to have an EA built for me?

Not at all. You describe your rules in plain English — if you can explain your strategy to another trader, you can explain it to me. I handle every line of code.

6. Can you fix a broken or badly written Expert Advisor?

Yes, this is one of the three things I do most. Send me the code and I'll audit it properly — freezing issues, execution errors, memory leaks, and logic that simply doesn't do what it's supposed to.

7. My developer disappeared halfway through the project. Can you finish it?

Very often, yes. I see this more than you'd think. Send me whatever code and documentation you have, and I'll assess honestly whether it's worth continuing or better rebuilt from a clean base.

8. Can you convert an MT4 Expert Advisor to MT5?

Yes. I translate MQL4 logic into modern MQL5 code, matching the original behaviour as closely as technically possible, then test both side by side before you switch over.

9. Why should I move from MetaTrader 4 to MetaTrader 5 at all?

Beyond the fact that many brokers are actively dropping MT4 support, MT5 is a faster, more robust platform for algorithmic trading and backtesting, with better execution and more modern language features in MQL5.

10. Do you convert MT4 indicators to MT5, or only Expert Advisors?

Both. A migration is often incomplete if only the EA is converted and the indicators it depends on are left behind, so I handle the full set together.

11. Do you decompile or copy someone else's EA if I send you the file?

No. I write original code from scratch and don't decompile, steal, or reverse engineer other developers' software. If you want something similar to an existing robot, you'll need to provide the underlying rules, and I'll build it cleanly from those.

12. How do I know you won't reuse or resell my strategy?

My reputation depends on trust. I'm a programmer, not a strategy seller — your logic stays strictly confidential and is never shared, reused, or resold to anyone else, under any circumstances.

13. Can I send a voice note or video explaining my strategy instead of typing it out?

No. All communication has to be in text, in English (a translator is fine if needed). This isn't bureaucracy for its own sake — it guarantees every rule is documented precisely and interpreted correctly, with no room for misunderstanding.

14. Will the Expert Advisor guarantee me profits?

No developer honestly can promise that. An EA only guarantees your exact rules are executed with mathematical precision and zero emotional interference. The market risk, and the quality of the underlying strategy, remain entirely your responsibility.

15. Do I get the source code, or only the compiled file?

This depends on the package agreed. A compiled execution file protects the intellectual property and keeps the job simpler; the open-source file, where included, lets you make your own edits in future. We agree this upfront.

16. What happens if you can't actually complete my project?

If, after review, I genuinely can't execute your idea, you get a full refund, and I'll explain exactly why it isn't technically possible, so you're never left guessing.

17. What is the 7-day testing window, and what does it actually cover?

After delivery, you have 7 days and up to 3 corrections included at no extra cost, to catch genuine bugs — cases where the code doesn't do what was originally agreed. It's a bug-fixing window, not a redesign window.

18. Can I add new features during the testing window?

No — new ideas aren't bug fixes. Adding functions or changing the original logic during or after the 7 days requires a separate upgrade quote. Locking the scope before coding begins is what keeps the code stable.

19. Can I change the rules after you've already started coding?

No, not for the original project. Strategy rules are locked during the review phase so the logic stays coherent — adding mid-build changes tends to break the structure. New rules are simply quoted as a new piece of work, while you still keep your 7-day window to fix genuine bugs in the original build.

20. Will you tell me if my strategy is actually profitable before you code it?

I review strategies for technical feasibility, not market profitability — that side of the theory is entirely yours. My job is to translate your idea into a flawless automated system exactly as you've specified it.

21. Does my computer need to stay switched on for the EA to work?

Yes — MetaTrader 5 needs to be open and running for the robot to place trades. Most clients rent a VPS so the terminal stays online 24 hours a day without depending on a home computer.

22. Do you offer support setting up a VPS?

I don't provide technical support for third-party server companies directly, but I'm happy to point you in the right direction — setting one up is usually as simple as logging into a remote Windows machine.

23. Can your EAs manage multiple trades at the same time?

Yes. Depending on the logic requested, a custom EA can manage several open positions, calculate dynamic trailing stops, and handle partial closures simultaneously, all without delay.

24. Can I use an EA you've built for me on a Mac?

Expert Advisors run inside the MetaTrader 5 terminal itself. As long as you have MT5 running, whether natively, through a Windows partition, or on a VPS, the robot works exactly the same.

25. Which broker and prop firm do you personally use?

People often ask this. I personally use IC Markets for my private accounts and FTMO when trading prop firm challenges — both offer tight spreads and reliable execution, which matter a great deal for automated trading.

26. Why don't you build robots for cTrader?

I focus on MetaTrader because its community is vastly larger. I started on MT4, and today MetaQuotes has millions of active users and far greater resources, which makes it a safer, better-supported environment for both developers and traders.

27. Do you still develop new robots directly for MetaTrader 4?

New development is exclusively for MetaTrader 5 and MQL5, since it's a faster and more robust environment for algorithmic trading and backtesting. If you have an existing MT4 robot, migrating it to MT5 is exactly the kind of project I take on.

28. What payment methods do you accept?

Payments run through Stripe, so I accept all major credit and debit cards, digital wallets, and most local payment methods, wherever you're based. Everything is encrypted end-to-end and your financial details never pass through my hands directly.

29. How do you deliver the finished code or files?

Once programming is complete, I send the files directly to your email or through a secure download link, along with straightforward instructions for installing them in your MetaTrader terminal folder.

30. Do you sign an NDA before I share my strategy with you?

I'm happy to sign a reasonable non-disclosure agreement if you'd like one in writing beyond the confidentiality already set out in my Terms of Service — just mention it when we first speak.

31. What happens if the market crashes or behaves unpredictably?

An algorithm does exactly what it was programmed to do — nothing more, nothing less. If your strategy includes emergency stop-loss parameters, the robot executes them precisely. That's why defining robust risk management rules before coding begins matters so much.

32. What's the first step if I want to get started right now?

Write your strategy, your broken code's symptoms, or your MT4 robot's details in clear English text, and send it over on WhatsApp or Telegram. I'll review it and come back with an honest, specific quote.
